Welcome to Our Pilates Studio

Suncoast Pilates offers Pilates equipment training and Pilates Mat and Yoga Classes in a fully equipped Pilates studio serving Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Countryside, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Tampa Bay Florida area since 1997. The studio, awarded Tampa Bay’s “Best Pilates Studio” two years in a row – 2014 and 2013, offers Pilates instruction in private, duo / trio / quad and group equipment classes and Pilates Mat and Yoga classes with some of the area’s most experienced, highly trained, Certified and Comprehensively Trained Pilates Instructors and Yoga Instructors. Private sessions are offered by appointment at a time of client convenience. Classes are offered at select days and times weekly.

Additional service offered are CoreAlign sessions. Suncoast offers private and duet / trio / quad Pilates and CoreAlign sessions by appointment six days a week. M.O.T.R. by Balanced Body and Bodhi Suspension Training System Classes coming this summer.

Balanced Body Anatomy in 3-D, May 6 – 7, 2016, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 6pm both days, $ 475 registration plus manual

This intensive, experiential workshop reviews the essentials of musculoskeletal anatomy and kinesiology as you build the major muscles used in movement on a specially designed skeleton. Understanding the body from the inside out allows you to see movement from a whole new perspective. Practical exercises to understand the function of each muscle and its use in Pilates are included to help you integrate the material. This is a great class for new and experienced instructors who want to improve their understanding of Anatomy and the body in motion. Start off with a challenging Mat Class with Luis, who since age 18 performed daily Mat classes as a dancer for Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, and has been teaching Pilates since 2000. Luis will present a new take using Joseph Pilates philosophy. History of Pilates

Pilates is a unique method of body conditioning named after German-born Joseph H. Pilates. Joseph Pilates, born in Monchengladbach, Germany, was living in England, working as a circus performer and boxer, when he was placed in forced internment in England at the outbreak of WWI. While in the internment camp, he began to develop the floor exercises that evolved into what we now know as the Pilates mat work.

As time went by, Joseph Pilates began to work with rehabilitating detainees who were suffering from diseases and injuries. It was invention born of necessity that inspired him to utilize items that were available to him, like bed springs and beer keg rings, to create resistance exercise equipment for his patients. These were the beginnings of the equipment we use today, like the  Reformer and the Magic Circle.
